  • I was super excited to try this place after hearing about how amazing it is for years. We started off ok, with good, unique sangria and fantastic horchata served in Mexican Coke bottles. 37 bucks (not including tip) for those 4 drinks, but they were good. 45 min was estimated wait for table. Stretched out into well over an hour (I didn't look at my watch so I'm not sure), but hostess was nice and apologetic, so I'm still ok. Then, the troubles start when we finally got to the table. Weird dry ciabatta bread with an ok tapenade to start. Esquites (a corn dish) for an appetizer was really yummy. Finally happier, briefly. I then ordered a beer, and that's the last we saw of our waitress for at least 20-30 minutes. No beer; no chance to order food. She then came back to get our order; had to ask for beer again. She was not charming at all, barely polite with a somewhat snooty, cold attitude. Another long wait for food. When it finally came, my fish was tragically overdone and dry with a side of uninspired zucchini. Hubby got the duck. Sauce was good, but the duck was so rare it was chewy. Daughter liked her black mole, but the rest of us thought it was too bitter. Other daughter's carne asada tacos were good, but the French fries on the side had a weird bland chile dust and no salt. I love potatoes in every form, and these were just plain awful. We're planning on dessert, but it was never offered and after another long wait for our check, we just wanted to get out of there. It wasn't just us either, another group that came in after us waited for their table for probably an hour (this is at 9:30pm) and finally left after being ignored while there were plenty of tables that had opened up. The 2nd star is only because of the horchata and corn, which were glimpses of what this place must have been to earn all the prior accolades. Seriously, Poca Cosa in Tucson has a similar style of food, but blows the doors off this place. No comparison.
