  • Pietra is the worse apartment experience I have had. The staff is either completely incompetent and don't know the different policies/desposits/etc, or deliberately lie about them. First, I was "bait and switched" with the original price quote, compared to what the actual figures came out to be when I wrote the move in check. I didn't argue about it because, in general, I prefer to avoid confrontation I was debating between 2 different properties, and one of the detractors from Peitra was the high pet "sanitation" fee. $200 (plus pet rent plus pet deposit.) When I inquired about the high cost (the other I was considering just had pet rent and pet deposit, no extra fee), the employee said they replace the carpet after every tenant with a pet and that helps offset that cost. Fast forward to move out, and Mark Taylor (the parent company) sends me a bill for replacing the carpet. Too bad I didn't do some internet research BEFORE moving in. Mark Taylor is infamous for taking advantage of the security deposit situation. The woman explained the Pet Sanitation Fee did not actually go to anything (i.e. replacing the carpet), it's just the fee they charge for me to have the luxury of having a pet at their complex. 200 +25 a month +pet deposit. Unbelievable. I don't know if the Pietra employee intentionally misled me or was too incompetent to explain it properly. Either way, it seems like Mark Taylor is just trying to suck as much money as possible out of their tenants. And ......why would they call it a "sanitation fee" if it wasn't actually used for sanitizing/replacing? Pros-You usually have the gym and pool to yourself. Finishes in the apartment are all upgraded. Good central phoenix location Cons-trash service is $25 a month and required. People leave their trash out for days at a time. Hallways get dirty from the trash leaking everywhere. Dog poop and stray cats everywhere. Walls between floors are thin. Most nights I could hear people playing music and hear LOUD footsteps (and feel the vibrations) until 3 or 4 a.m.
