| - I have been going to blonde for a few months now and have been very happy with my hair. Before today I probably would have given the salon a 4.5 star rating. Today unfortunately was the LAST time I will step foot in that salon, and if I could give it a 0 star rating I would. Today I feel cheated, blindsided and appalled.
So when you become a client of blonde you sit down with your stylist and they make you answer a questionnaire about your hair...it's a little ridiculous but I guess it's their way of making you feel like they understand what you're looking for. Anyway, after going through this question period, they provide you with a quote on how much your hair will cost - you either agree or not, and if all is good, away you go. The quote that was provided to me was reasonable, and like I said in the end, I was very happy with the service. Today I had my hair done and when I went to pay I was told that my hair was $255 (w/o tax)...that is a huge different from what I paid 7 weeks before. Apparently Stacey, the owner, increased the prices and I gather did not think it was necessary to advise her customers that she was almost doubling the cost of the services. For example, my partial highlights used to cost me $90, colour re-touch was $30, gloss $45. The price now works out to $175(!) for partial highlights (she thinks she's doing us a favour by including the gloss price into the highlights) and $80(!) for colour re-touch. Ladies, this is colour between foils, it is not even being worked into the length of my hair. How can you not give your customers the heads up that you have implemented such an increase and think that they'll be ok with paying $100 more when it comes time to pay. People have to budget things like this into their expenses. In the same way that you sit down for your initial consultation and are given a quote they should now be sitting their customers down BEFORE they finish with their hair and quote based on the new prices.
What I especially feel bad for though is my stylist. Ashley is a sweet and talent stylist. I really enjoyed having her do my hair. I unfortunately cannot and will not justify spending that much money though. I couldn't even give Ashley a decent tip today because I was not prepared to spend that much money. It's a shame that as a result of Stacey's decisions Ashley and the other stylists will no doubt lose some of their clientele. I don't care if the price for your supplies have increased. My hair colour cannot possibly cost the salon an additional $90 to buy.
Maybe some people are ok with all of this and will continue to go to blonde - after all they do know how to colour your hair, but I certainly will not be able to go back, both for financial reasons and based on principle of Stacey's business practices.
I am beyond furious.
Shame, shame, shame.
PS. It's unfortunate that both reviews I have posted on yelp have to do with situations where business owners are increasing their prices significantly and thereby losing customers. I can understand that prices go up based on different factors in their respective markets, but in both of these cases the increases in price are beyond excessive and not at all with the customer in mind.
