  • Finding specialty animal-free foods in a typical grocery store usually takes a concerted effort and spending commitment. I find Trader Joe's brand items unbeatable in taste and price. Vegan items are marked with a "v" on the front or say "vegan" in the ingredients list. The grab-and-go area has some great wraps, salads and produce. For a quick and cheap lunch, I like to grab a wrap, banana, yogurt (soy or coconut) and larabar for less than $10. If you're looking to make any festive custards or cheesecakes, TJ's brand vegan cream cheese is only $2.50 and their Speculoos cookies make a great crust. The sweet snacks in the frozen aisle are hard to pass up. The dark chocolate covered banana slices are fantastic. The snack aisle has a variety of nuts (roasted and unroasted), dried fruit and various munch-ables (healthy and indulgent). It's my neighborhood store, but I'm looking forward to checking out the new Downtown Summerlin location.
