  • I love cupcakes but I'm very picky, to the point that I have yet to find a place in the Greater Cleveland Area that does them right. Yummies makes a decent cupcake but it's not great, it's just...average. This place is located almost at the corner of Sprague and York. The inside is small and cute with two or so places to sit. However because of it's size and closeness to the register I feel like it's kind of uncomfortable to sit and stay for long. I got my cupcake to go. The girl at the counter was very nice and gave recommendations when I asked so points for that. I ended up debating between the Red Velvet and the Snickers cupcake. I didn't want to get both because I'm "trying to watch the waistine" (she says as she buys a cupcake...). The Red Velvet had what looked like a very airy frosting, not my favorite for that sort of cupcake so I ended up with the Snickers one. However if you want to grab more then one, they're only $2.49 each. I have to say, this was the most well-packaged cupcake I have ever seen. I've gone to several places and they normally give you a box, sometimes with separaters. This plastic individually housed the cupcake, you have to be trying to mess it up on the drive home. I'm not sure how they package them if you get several, I'm assuming a box. As for the cupcake itself, the good part is that the cake portion wasn't dry. One of the worst things a cupcake can be is dry. However I don't understand why it was called a "Snickers" cupcake. It had a piece of Snickers on top but it just seemed like a chocolate cupcake. The cake portion itself wasn't dense and had more of a dark chocolate taste, a little bitterness. There seemed to be a few teeny tiny pieces of nuts on top of the cupcake, under the frosting, but not throughout the cake. The frosting was very sweet and very airy. However it lacked complexity. It just tasted generically sweet with a hint of chocolate. The very sweet frosting paired pretty well with the dark chocolate taste of the cake so kudos for not making it overwhelming. Overall I'd say the cupcake was just decent. If you're in the area and have a craving then stop by but I wouldn't say it's worth a longer drive.
