| - Never really frequented this place when I lived nearby. Probably because I always thought of it as a "wine bar." But as it turns out, it's much more than a wine bar! They have beer. Lots and lots of beer. Actually, so much beer that I didn't even notice any wine when I was there. Do they even have wine? Who knows. That takes me to my next point, which was that the service was definitely lacking here last night. When we arrived around 8:30pm, the place was mostly empty. We weren't offered a drink list though, and none were out on the tables. They have such a huge selection that a list, in my opinion, is absolutely required. I'd forgotten half of the beers they had on tap by the time our server had finished rattling them off. That might work when you're offering typical things like Bud, Miller, Great Lakes, etc, but not when everything you're saying is something I've never heard of - I want to be able to read a description of the beer and where it came from, etc. Also, the place was beginning to fill up by the time we left around 10pm, and we had to go up to the bar and ask for our check because no one ever came back to our table.
The atmosphere is cozy and extra dark, which is nice. The selection appears to be extensive, but the overall experience would be a lot better if the service had been better, or even if they had just given us a menu.
