  • Went to the Phoenix Zoo early today and it wasn't that great in comparison to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Phoenix Zoo cost $20 per adult (Cheyenne Moutain Zoo was $17.25 which included the Will Rogers Shrine in the price) and it felt wasted in comparison to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, in CO Springs they had a system you could donate to what animal exhibit you wanted included in your ticket price and the Phoenix Zoo did not. I felt like the CO Springs Zoo was way better in both the animals you got to see and the huge amount of activities in comparison to the Phoenix Zoo and experience was greater in CO Springs compared to the Phoenix Zoo. The animals at the Phoenix Zoo felt farther away, the animals themselves had lots of room to move around in but it meant if you wanted a close up of the animals it was pretty difficult and that was rather apparent. The Phoenix Zoo was expensive, included a lot of walking for seemingly not a lot of animals and it felt like most of the animals were missing, not on exhibit or just too irritated to want to be seen. There also wasn't that many daily events going on... in comparison to my experience at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. I'm sure the Phoenix Zoo at night is pretty cool but this Zoo experience wasn't spectacular during the day. I'm not really a fan of this place and probably won't return. There was some pretty cool things but they cost extra ($3/$2) per attraction within the zoo. Water itself was $3.29. Food prices were obviously very expensive as well and I'd recommend packing in your own water, food, and avoiding expensive prices at this zoo. On the other hand this place is like a kid paradise, so if you have kids they will probably enjoy an experience here much more than an adult or older family hangout.
