| - First of all set aside your expectations or ideas of a public pool. Forget about a rectangle of concrete filled with water, one lifeguard yelling at kids not to run, and a small diving board. No, this is Scottsdale, so lets recalibrate those expectations. Eldorado Aquatic and Fitness Center is like a resort that is open to everyone. Sure there's a big pool with lanes for lap swimmers, but there's also a diving well with two 1-meter boards and two 3-meter boards. There's a wading pool with a water playground that you can climb, spray someone with water, or just relax. There are even two water slides that you reach by climbing up a few flights of stairs. One is fully enclosed and a little faster while the other is an open tube with lots of twists and turns.
Oh, and you don't just bring your towel and sit on the cool deck when you're not swimming, they have two grassy, beach areas, with plenty of chaise lounges where you can kick back, read a book, and work on your tan.
OK, but it's Scottsdale so it must be expensive and snobby right? Wrong, residents get in for only $3 for adults and $2 for kids, but even if you don't live in Scottsdale it only costs $5 for adults and $3 for kids. Compared to Big Surf or Wet and Wild, that's a smoking deal and a great way to beat the summer heat!
Check it out!
