I have no issues with the quality of massages provided by Massage Envy. However I'm still having the hardest time liking Massage Envy as a business. I don't recall ever having such a hard time with a business being able to keep the appointments that they make. I've made two appointments over the past 2 months. Both times I've been called the day of the appointment by Massage Envy to cancel or reschedule the appointment. Just to be clear, that is Massage Envy changing the appointment, not me.
The first instance was for an appointment I scheduled several weeks in advance. I was called a few hours before my appointment which was a two hour massage. My choices were to wait an additional 3 weeks for another opening or move that appointment to later in the day for only one hour.
The second instance was for a 1 hour massage that was booked 3 weeks out. Same story as before, I was called the day of because Massage Envy was unable to keep the appointment. My choices were to wait 2 weeks for the therapist of my choice or wait 1 week for a different therapist who had an opening that fit my schedule.
Here's my biggest issue with the whole thing. Once I was finally able to get into the spa after the first cancellation I signed up for a membership after being assured that Massage Envy takes care of their members. Membership, I was told, includes the benefit of priority booking. I suppose that so far in my experience it could be argued that Massage Envy is very good at booking appointments. Maybe too good as they seem to have very little flexibility to handle any staffing issues on their end. I'm seriously confused as to why I'm paying for a membership.
So I guess my advice to others is be aware that your scheduled appointment is always at risk. Also, avoid the membership until you've had at least 2 successful appointments.
