We went to Rudy's on the last night of the Groupon expiration ..why do we always wait till the last day? I made a reservation through Open Table and had to change the time twice - they were very accommodating. Our expectations were not high because we knew that they would be busy and they were. However, they seemed to be prepared for it unlike other establishments on the last night of a Groupon. The food took a little longer than usual but that was expected.
I like their food. This was my 2nd time here. I ordered the sole and couldn't wait
to taste the sautéed sole with cherry tomatoes and roasted peppers. When it came to the table, I remembered that their "sautéed" is actually breaded and pan-fried. It was actually very good, however there is a difference between the two preparations and it's disappointing that they don't fully disclose the preparation on the menu.
Hubby had the lobster ravioli which was very good as well. The kids had penne with marinara and penne with vodka sauce, both of those were good. However, this is really not the place for kids, unless you don't mind paying $15 for the kids meals (because there are no kids meals). The only reason we took the kids was that it was hubby's birthday.
The only dissappointing part of the meal was the dessert. We should have asked
If they were made in house. I don't believe they are. We ordered the Italian Cheesecake and Chocolate Mousse. Neither of these were anything to write home about.
Rudy's is a little higher on the prices than I would like but the food is very good.
