| - I was really excited to come here. When I went to Switzerland, I absolutely died over the yummy cheese fondue I got to have so I was expecting great things from this famous Melting Pot. However, I'm still really undecided about this place. I thought the food was pretty good. I felt it was overpriced, but hey, it's fondue. What should I expect? The alpine was a pretty good fondue, I will say that. The meat was also quite wonderful. However, the service really kicked me.
First of all, we got to out reservation on time, but were seated nearly 20 minutes after our arrival. They didn't seem to care about us or the fact that we were waiting. That started us off on the wrong foot.
We just had a really strange waitress that had a dry and sarcastic humor. While I am usually fine and used to this, going on a date out to dinner? She really brought down the mood. It was really awkward... She was, however, attentive, so I do give her that. Just compared to the other servers I was witnessing, I felt like we were getting short changed. We weren't really given in-depth explanations like the table next to us. And there's nothing I dislike more than someone who says they just like everything..
Another thing I have to say is that with the living social deal they offer, you just get salad and then the meat/cooking style. We ended up walking out with about a $50 bill on top of it for the cheese fondue (for 2) and one drink. They also include a 20% gratuity. We felt like after the price of the deal and what we paid on top of that, we could have done the endless fondue and gotten way more food for almost the same price. That really irked me... It's smart because it gets you there and you're tempted to spend, spend, spend, but I won't be doing that again.
Anyways, I may go back in the future and try The Melting Pot again, but I don't believe it will be at this location that I do.
