| - Today I went in for my appointment with Dr. Patel for TMJ. Upon entering the waiting room, I was not acknowledged by the front desk staff. When I tried to speak, I was told, "I'll be with you in a minute," while the receptionist completed her personal story with a co-worker. I walked away and sat down and immediately was called to the counter. When I attempted to explain that I had computer issues, the receptionist proceeded to tell me that they "won't see you without it. It takes 45 minutes." She was very rude in her tone and walked away with a paper in her hand. I elected to leave and not deal with a hostile staff, especially at 8:00 a.m. The receptionist called me and said, "If you come back, we will squeeze you in." Squeeze me in? I had an appointment for weeks.
I was not able to meet the doctors, however, if their receptionists reflect the tone and respect of their staff, I did not want to be a patient.
There are options in health care.
