  • Mission: converge my mother's Arizona DL to a Nevada DL ...mission FAILED! My mother and I arrived at 3:30 p.m. with what we thought were authorized required identification documents. An active, out of state, DL, SS Card, and the almighty TRIBAL ID Card. All of which are issued by a government agency. The first person, Amber, at intake, had verified that especially the Tribal ID would suffice with "someone behind the wall" and then put my mom in the queue to wait, which was an expected 366 minutes. Being the serious need that it was, we still decided to wait, especially since Amber mentioned that as long as you're inside the building by 5 p.m. they will still see you. TWO hours and 30 minutes later, my mom was finally called to window #3, where Ernest, processing clerk, then said, Tribal ID does not qualify. After explaining that Amber had already verified that it did, he checked again, this time with a "supervisor". Ernest then returned to affirm that a Tribal ID does not pass for authorized identification, also saying that "congress" changed the rules, and that just like Military IDs, they can not accept them. I ask, "If thats the case why didn't Amber know at the front desk then?" Ernest then mentions she was misinformed and that he will bring over the "supervisor" to prove that this policy stands. After waiting for this "supervisor" to appear, from the far right end of the building of where we sitting, a well put together black lady starts walking over to our window desk with a piece of paper in her hand. "Kim, the supervisor" approaches and sits down across from my mother and I, then asks, "What's the problem?", no smile, no eye contact, and no customer service in her voice. My mother reiterates the fact about her Tribal ID not being sufficient as an ID document to converge her license. "Kim, the supervisor" then puts the paper from her hand onto the table to show us in plain black & white, that a Tribal ID does not suffice for an actual NV DL, but only for a permit. Then, goes on to explain that this rule was changed based on 9/11 and how a bunch of terrorists had fake IDs to kill a bunch of people. Being that it may, as a "supervisor" she should've just reminded us of what was sufficient and what was not. The fact that she had an insensitive tone in her voice plus defensive body language made the goal of our visit insulting and embarrassing. It was apparent that she nor anyone else on her staff had dealt with such an issue before us. It was also apparent that for her to be a "supervisor" she was unprofessional, ineffective, and down right TACKY!! When "Kim, the supervisor" threw her hands in the air and got up to walk away, I said, "You guys here are outrageous", she responded, "and so are you, thats why I'm through with you!", and continued briskly in the opposite direction. Again, for a "supervisor", "Kim" was UNPROFESSIONAL, INEFFECTIVE, and down right TACKY!! I understand it was late, after hours, and a misunderstanding of information on my mine and my mothers part, but her actions, attitude, and behavior were an embarrassment and a liability. Not only to her department also the Mission and Vision of the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles!! Had not she became defensive and explained about terrorism, which was totally irrelevant, I was going to apologize for our misunderstanding, and suggest that they correct the front desk/intake on the information they give out. Because, in the 2 1/2 hours we were waiting, we could have went home to get those additional documents that were sufficient to be better prepared when we called to window #3. Right? Miss "Kim, the supervisor" definitely is recommend for more training, coaching, and workplace ethics. Mission Failed!
