Reflecting back on my stay at Holiday Inn Toronto-Yorkdale. I spent three days there last week while attending an event in Toronto. At the risk of sounding ungrateful I tend to avoid travel to Toronto mostly because of the time zone change. Also, I'm not partial to concrete and there's no shortage of highways, cars and concrete in Yorkdale.
The trip was heavy on work expectations so needed to adjust my schedule somewhat and even though the registration person on the phone told me there were no more rooms in the hotel, I didn't believe her and called right back and spoke to another person who advised me, "yes!" there were rooms and schedule change was accomplished.
Upon arrival the room was humble and looked as tired as I felt, it was very clean and however well past its glory days. Took a moment to contemplate the $185 a night room rate at that moment thinking $85 per night would have been appropriate. I'm sounding ungrateful, I know.
Went to grab a bite, it was late almost 11 pm and the service was excellent. Professional servers and hosts combined with interesting menu with enough veggies, spices and soups to give me a sense that I had landed in the perfect spot for eats. All the days of dining were excellent. I can not say enough about the service...friendly and thorough.
The woman who cleaned the rooms on my floor was lovely. She approached me at the elevator to discuss scheduling the cleaning of my room since I had been holed up in there in the morning. So thoughtful.
I was very touched by the care and attention provided by the restaurant people and the woman who cleaned the rooms on my floor.
