| - I've been going to this Valvoline for several years for oil changes, but the service has been going down hill the past two or three years. During my last visit I noticed the tech having trouble reinstalling a plastic shroud after checking the fluids. When I got home, I checked and 3 of 5 clips were incorrectly attached. It took me 30 seconds to attach it correctly. Then, on the other side of the engine I noticed the air filter was not properly clamped in (they checked It and told me that I needed a new one, but I passed and said I had one at home). Upon closer inspection, I noticed the tech failed to properly seat the air filter gasket in the groove and was unable to clamp it closed; he left with only one clamp closed and deformed the rubber gasket in the process, basically allowing dirty air and moisture to easily flow into the engine. It took me another 30 seconds to reseat the gasket and clamp it shut. Looks like it's time to find a new place for oil changes!!
Other observations:
It seems like every time I go now, the techs try to sell you something you don't need. Example, they told me I needed a transmission flush. I told them I had it done less than 15k miles ago at Toyota. They said it looked dirty, then showed me the fluid color which was fine as far as I was concerned.
There was no heat in the waiting area on freezing cold day in February. Also, no coffee or TV either, but there used to be.
If you forget you coupon, they won't give you one, but the always did in the past. How times have changed at this place.
