Not what I expected. The only nice part of the hotel is the lobby. Modern and updated. But the room and the exterior of the hotel is totally dated. Definitely not 4-5 star quality.
3 stars for pleasant staff, clean and decent size room, and a comfy bed. Lack luster on the dated bathroom and room amenities. Maybe it only applies on the 12th floor and perhaps the other floors are a bit better? Or, maybe we got the standard room and the deluxe rooms are more plush? Regardless, you'd expect more from Intercontinental.
Location-wise: I guess it's somewhat ideal. It right in between the Roger Centre Stadium and AIr Canada Arena. One block away from CN Tower and a few blocks from City Hall and Eaton Centre Mall. But it's a few blocks from Queens/Kings Street, Chinatown, Greektown, and definitely far from Old Distillery District. Personally, I'd choose a different hotel.
On a personal note: 30% of the workers there are Filipino so you'll feel right at home. =)
Plan to walk in Toronto....nothing is that relatively far. If you live in NY or SF, you'll know what I mean.
