the wife and I are big fans of Pinkberry out on the West Coast so we were thrilled to see a tart froyo place w/ toppings out in our neck of the woods in Brecksville (next to Panera). On a tip from a friend who really enjoyed that place we checked it out on Monday night. Overall it was pretty decent, but not up to Pinkberry standards. Good things? I liked the decor, the fact that you could serve yourself and the choice of flavors and toppings. The key lime yogurt was excellent, bracingly tart and very enjoyable. I'd buy it again. The tart original was ok, not as dense and smooth and a little bit sweet for our tastes, compared to Pinkberry, but it was good enough to get again. A surprise was how good the cookies and cream was- didn't taste like yogurt at all. Also surprisingly good was their selection of mochi (tasty bits of tapioca) and boba- this is something Pinkberry does not have and it matched very nicely with the yogurt. So what could be better? For one thing, the fruit looked kind of meh. At Pinkberry, the fruit always looks incredibly fresh, no bruising or squished berries. Here the pineapple was bruised and the berries were somewhat soft- this was a disappointment. Perhaps this is the cost of allowing customers to serve themselves- they are probably less careful than trained employees would be. In any case, I still really enjoyed myself and figure this is cheaper than a trip to Cali to get our Pinkberry fix. Hope it does well!
