Stopping to buy and eating the egg roll biscuits (dan quen) are a tradition for us during our visits to Toronto/Markham from New York. But we noticed this year that it was ridiculously tough to reserve a case (12 packs) for pick up, even though we tried to call and reserve it a week in advance. We even tried going to the counter to buy a box and were turned away a few times. The lady with the long hair just looks you up and down and if she deems you worthy of her cookies then she will sell you some. My group of friends have officially dubbed her the Dan Quen Nazi (in reference to Seinfeld's soup nazi).
While they are very good and the box that we got were hard won, not sure how much rejection one can take for cookies.
