  • Tried this place out recently, and have to say I am impressed. The first thing that I liked was the appearance of the place. Yes, it is part of a strip mall and adjacent to some oddball places, but as soon as you walk up, you can see that they stand out from their neighbors. The darkened wood paneling, the patio and the red entry doors leave little doubt that you're standing outside a pub. Once you step inside, you'll find subdued lighting, more dark wood paneling, cozy booths, plenty of bar seating and a definite pub vibe going on. You can only be so authentic in a place like Glendale and this is probably about as good as you're going to find anywhere. When we arrived, we seated ourselves (I guess how it works?) and were shortly brought menus and some water. I will say the water tasted like tap, and not in a good way, so I wouldn't recommend it as your only beverage. Fortunately neither of us went that route, and our other beverages were fine. I can't fault them for this, tap water is nasty in Phoenix no matter where you go, but just an FYI, it is definitely from the tap. For appetizers, we sampled both the pub wings and the spinach dip. The dip came out first, followed shortly by the wings, and both were pretty good. The pita chips that came with the spinach dip are an interesting departure from what I've come to expect when order this dish elsewhere, but it wasn't bad. It might have been better if they were slightly less baked/fried, because a few times, the taste of the browned pita was overpowering the dip. Likewise, because they're so greasy from the baking/frying, the spinach dip actually struggles to stay on the pita unless you scoop up a massive helping. If you've ever tried to dip heavily buttered or oily pretzels into some cheese dip and noticed that none of it adhered, that's the same exact thing. Sure, you can work around it, but you shouldn't have to get creative to get dip on the chip. I'd still order it again, but just putting this out there as constructive feedback that I think would improve the dish. As for the wings, which we ordered mild, they were fantastic. The sauce tasted absolutely identical to something I've had at small, family owned pizza chain here in town, to the point where even my dining companion said the exact same thing, unprompted. Mind you, this isn't a criticism, because I love the flavor, it was more a pleasant surprise. I wish I knew where they bought the stuff, or where they got this recipe. Aside from the sauce, the wings were perfectly cooked and actually much better (and larger) than what I'm used to at the aforementioned 'other place'. Without a doubt, I will be ordering those again on my next visit. For an entree, we both tried the turkey club, and they were delicious. In my view, just the right amount of meat, and the flavor was spot on. The fries that come with the sandwich were not my thing, but I had so much other food, it really didn't matter. I'm not a big fan of fries in the first place, so again, I can't hold that against them. I understand you can swap it out for something else, but looking at the menu, I'm not sure what the something else would be. It would be nice if this was clearly broken out somewhere. Bonus points, this place does not appear to have any type of children's menu. Thank God! I can't stand being surrounded by oblivious, inconsiderate breeders who think a restaurant (and especially a bar) should double as a day care center, so that was a welcome change of pace, and yet another reason to go back. For any breeders reading this, take your squealing, ill-behaved spawn somewhere else, this place is for adults. Definitely going to make this a part of our regular rotation, and look forward to going back and trying some other offerings. So glad this place made the move from the ghetto of Metro Center to civilization in Glendale. UPDATE: While I won't deduct any stars, I will warn you that the "Live Music" act, at least on Thursdays, is terrible. Andreas Rodriguez and his 'Ladies Night' is ear wrenching and insufferable. His guitar sounds like it's being tortured, he can't carry a tune to save his life and, unbelievably, he thinks that he's a comedian too. There were usually only two people clapping at his "act" and he was one of them. Management needs to kick this shit stain to the curb and get someone, -anyone- else. This guy came across like he packed a bowl before the gig and then couldn't perform worth of shit, but still thought everything was funny, including how bad he sucked. Get rid of this loser, your customers will thank you and so will their ear drums.
