Located on the sixth floor of a mixed-used building, this restaurant is my favorite dim sum place in Montreal. On a return visit, the restaurant was already half-full for a late morning meal. The dining area is huge, well-lit due to the windows surrounding the room, and nicely-decorated. Unlike some places where ladies wheel carts from table to table describing each offering, this restaurant allows guests to select dishes from a trilingual menu where you indicate the number of plates desired. It is similar or what you will find at any sushi place. Despite the multiple languages, we found it difficult to locate all our favorites... Four of us went through the menu of steamed and fried offerings, congee (rice porridge), and sticky rice and still needed the help of our attentive waiter. I definitely should have checked out their website beforehand where their online menu includes pictures of every item served.
I sampled the following:
SEAFOOD:
Scallop and chive dumpling
MEAT:
Spare ribs in pepper sauce - it was recommended and definitely lived up to the billing
Meat balls on tofu skin
Beef in rice noodle roll - good except that the sauce was average this time around
Barbecue pork in flaky pastry - both the pastry and pork were outstanding
Siu Mai with caviar - much larger than what you will find at other places
SWEET:
Bun with creamy salted egg filling - never seen this on a dim sum menu; would probably not re-order
Deep-fried sesame ball with creamy salted egg yolk - same filling as above
In all, it was well worth the visit despite the recent snowfall and chilly weather.
