| - There are plenty of reviews of Lotus of Siam, thanks to consistent buzz amongst locals, tourists, and food magazines. Know going in that you can't just waltz in, pick something off the menu and expect to be stunned. Their menu is extensive and contains most of the standard Thai dishes, most of which are pretty average. But if you know what to order you can have an amazing experience. They feature a lot of Northern Thai dishes which are unique to most Westerners, many of which are pretty mind-blowing. When in doubt, ask your waiter -- the staff knows what's popular. I've been here around 20 times in the past year, and here are my favorites, more or less in order of awesomeness:
1) Spicy chicken wings (appetizer)
2) Special crispy duck curry with Panang sauce
3) Drunken noodles with Sea Bass
4) Fish cakes (appetizer)
5) Crying Tiger Beef (basically just tender grilled beef steak with a good sauce)
6) Thai beef jerky (appetizer)
Stick with those, especially the first 4, and you'll be happy.
