  • 4/8/2018: This is our first visit here. Hubby took the AYCE lunch @ $23.00 and I had the Dinner Sushi @ $18.00. For my meal, miso soup was served first and it was nothing to write home about. Bland and watered down. Certainly not full-bodied and there was no real "miso" taste to it. It's like they were holding out on the miso - too expensive to put more in the soup? To their credit, though, they did put a generous amount of wakame (seaweed) but only a small amount of tiny, tiny cubes of tofu. Dang. Tofu isn't THAT expensive! Eating their miso soup was like drinking lightly-flavored miso water mixed in with wakame and a diminutive amount of tofu bits. Then came the tossed salad, which was a good-size salad but the dressing was minuscule. So stingy on the dressing, OMG. The tempura dish was very good! Hot (temperature-wise) and flavorful and I thoroughly enjoyed THIS dish! Now the main dish came out, which was a variety of sashimi on top of shredded daikon (radish) and shiso leaves (very delish...LOVE these leaves!). No rice. After a long while, I finally inquired about having rice and the gal looked on our table, noting no rice there and retrieved a bowl of round-top rice. Now back in the day when I was growing up, you NEVER served rice with a rounded top. This way of serving rice was reserved for dead people. Yep...DEAD people. My grandma used to serve little bowls of round-top rice to her deceased husband on a little Buddhist shrine she had in her bedroom. As for the overall ambience, it was beautiful but the music they played was incongruous to the Japanese theme! Instead of quiet-tone, Asian-type music which would have been conducive and appropriate to dining and digestion, they blasted their nightclub-type music which was almost too loud for conversation. Management apparently thinks people enjoy having their eardrums blasted while eating sushi! Taste in music was pure hell - to us, anyway. Even if they played the same type of music but toned down the volume, that would have been tolerable. But they force patrons to listen to music of THEIR liking. Bad business! They are thoughtless to customers' taste in music. If you're going to inflict YOUR type of music on your patrons, have the decency to turn the volume down to background music. As for the food server, first we had a female take our order and then later on, a male came to our table. He acted like we were putting him out when we asked for more water and a to-go box, which he brought. But when I asked for a plastic bag for the to-go box, he almost sarcastically asked me if there was anything ELSE I'd like??? My goodness. What an attitude! He's there for a job and it's his job to service patrons. It's also HIS fault that he didn't bring a plastic bag along with the to-go box. That's only common sense: You need a plastic bag to put your to-go box in, just in case the box leaks - which DID happen on the ride home. Not once during our meal did ANYone come to our table to refill our water or ask if everything was alright. Overall, we did enjoy our meal but because of the ambience, poor service, poor attitude, poor choice of music, lack of service/concern for its patrons, and food quality and amount, we will not be back. There's just too many other places from which to choose! Well you never know until you try, and we tried! Been there, done that.
