| - I was underwhelmed with this vet. I took my cat here for his chronic vomiting and I felt they either didn't have the knowledge or the commitment to help him. I spent thousands of dollars on diagnostics to figure out what was wrong with him (and you have to ask specifically about how expensive each test and procedure is because they don't volunteer that information and even then, I'm not sure how much of what I paid for was competitively priced or even necessary) and finally we found out what he had. Once we found out what he had, the help really stopped there. My cat is IMPOSSIBLE to pill. He either starts foaming at the mouth or will vomit up the medication. I explained this to the vet tech at one visit who laughed at me and showed me a simple way to hide the pill in cream cheese. My cat ate the medication and promptly began to gag and foam at the lips and began to drool and the medication five minutes later was in a pile of saliva on the floor. Her conclusion was that I was not crazy after all. Well no...At the end of the visit, I was prescribed a medication in my pill form for my cat to take, with makes no sense because my cat is IMPOSSIBLE to pill. Later, I found out the exact same medication is available in liquid form, which my cat had absolutely no problem taking and is more than two times cheaper. Either they don't have the knowledge, or they don't care enough to find that out for me. They put my cat on medication and a very expensive diet (only available at the vet) and unfortunately it didn't work to stop his vomiting. I kept calling and telling them he was not better and we needed a new plan. We changed to another expensive diet that is only available at the vet. He was still vomiting so I called back. They recommended I change his diet to another very expensive diet they only carried at the vet. It was the first product I tried, which didn't make any sense since he had already failed that food, and apparently all the expensive diets that they sold. I told them if he was going to continue puking, I would rather he puke reasonably-price store brought food then really expensive vet bought food. Of course, they had no other suggestions of how to help my cat if I wasn't going to commit to my cat's health and continue to pay all that money for hypo-allergenic premium cat food, even though they had no more suggestions of how to help my cat even if I was going to pay for expensive cat food. Over this period of time, my cat had been dropping a tremendous amount of weight. I'm a student, so I took my cat home on break to California to see his real vet. She looked over his records and ordered his medication as a liquid form so they he could actually take it without spitting it back up and I wouldn't have to wrestle and torture him twice a day. The dose he was getting originally had been ridiculously low for his diagnosis. She also provided me a list of affordable, moderately price food I could buy at most pet food stores (that are open on the weekend! and aren't ridiculously marked-up!). Within a few days, my cat started doing a lot better. He has put all the weight back on and is only vomiting a few times per month instead of a few times per day. His problem was not the multi-thousand dollar medical mystery that was impossible to solve that these vets made it out to be. It just took a little more knowledge, a little more care, and a little more commitment then they were willing to put in.
