  • So, after trying Naked City Pizza at their original location on the other side of town, and having visions of the Guinea Pie dancing through my head ever since, I decided to try their new location on Paradise Rd. Unlike its sister store, this venue does not share its interior with a dive bar; this is purely a pizza restaurant. There is no smoking, and no bar. They don't serve hard alcohol, just beer and wine. When you enter, the friendly staff at the counter ask if you prefer to dine in or take out. If dining in, they seat you in their small cluster of tables and provide waitress service. If takeout, you place and pay for your order at the register and wait until it is ready. The space is pleasantly appointed, but it lacks character. It just feels sterile, somehow. I guess you could hang out here with your friends for a while, but for some reason it lacks that comfortable hang-out vibe that fun restaurants and bars have. Note, however, that they just opened a few weeks ago, so as they settle in to the space, perhaps that will evolve. So the important question is: did the great Guinea Pie pizza survive the transplant to the new location? Or is it a pale imitation of the original? I am pleased to report that it is just as good as I remember it. They also have a nice selection of microbrew beers; I was driving, so I didn't get to try any, but it looked promising. The parking lot is a bit of a mess; the spaces are angled backwards from Paradise Rd, so you have to circle around the corner to the entrance on Naples Drive (or, you could pull into a space backwards, I suppose). Also, they share the lot with Office Bar next door, so it can get quite full.
