We are locals and love coming out here for a getaway. It is very relaxing. The pool is great, the grounds are scenic. Poolside drinks are delicious but of course pricey. I would not recommend paying full price for the room though, as they are outdated and simple, not worth over $100 like they try to charge, plus the TV and internet is spotty. Get a Groupon deal for less that $80/night and that's the way to go. Also don't eat at Ricks unless its the chocolate lava cake with ice cream. The other food is nothing special and pretty pricey for being not so good. Also they are super pet friendly which we love! This reviewer describes it quite well:
"This, for me is easily a 4 star resort if you are just judging the grounds and the space. It is LOVELY, relaxing and (for nevada) very tasteful. I loved the setting. It manages to be extremely kid friendly without sacrificing the adults. It features two pools, a waterslide (that is very tastefully woven into the design of the grounds) and a faux 'white sand beach' with kayaking.
It is a heaven send from the gaudy chaos of Vegas - and came complete with cocktails and celebrity sightings and no gambling - which keeps out a lot of the other stuff that comes with it.
But below the surface things fall apart a little bit.
It does not seem particularly well managed. While all of the staff were very kind and attentive, none of them seemed to know very much about the resort - or their jobs.
The experience, which could be quite elegant, is really diminished by the details. "
