| - Recently my husband and I stayed for a weekend at the Westin for our "honeymoon" since we can't travel far due to being a full-time student. I figured this would be a fun little weekend since I am not from Las Vegas and I have never been to Lake Las Vegas.
When we arrived to check in, there was only one front desk agent checking in guests. As we waited in line, two supervisors came out to help with the line. We were checked in by Shawna was very sweet. She was very quick and knowledgeable during the check in. We mentioned to her that we were there to celebrate our marriage and she congratulated us and wanted to see if there was anything that she could do for us to add to the special occasion. She was able to update us complementary from a standard king room to a junior suite.
When we went up to our room, the room key didn't work. So we had to go back down to the front desk and get a new key. Due to there only being one front desk agent again, we had to stand in line for about 15 minutes before the next agent started for her shift. She called us up to the front and we let her know that we needed a new room key. She never apologized about the inconvenience, she just asked who was the agent that had checked us in. When I let her know it was Shawna, she just said oh, ok. Then she started to go to make us new room keys when I had to ask her if she needed an ID from one of us to verify the room. Normally agents ask for IDs due to security purposes, so that was a little surprising that she didn't ask. Once we got the keys made, we were able to head up to our room.
Our room was very cute, nice living area that was separated from the bed area with a curtain. There was a coffee maker but no microwave or mini fridge. Our view was of the lake but it was hard to see due to the palm trees being right in front of the room. The hotel was very quiet which was nice, we didn't hear any doors slamming or people in the hallway. I would have expected to hear noise due to there being a wedding in the hotel but the soundproofing was very good.
The only part of the hotel that was poor to me was the valet. My husband and I pulled up into the valet after dinner and my husband wanted his car parked in the area in front of the hotel. When the valet attendant came to our car, my husband asked him if he could park it with the other cars in the front of the hotel instead of the valet lot in the back. The valet attendant replied, "those spots in the front are only for the people that take care of us". My husband was a little confused at first because we're very use to tipping valet so that was nothing new to us. So the valet attendant fills out our parking slip and my husband asks him what side the car will be parked on. The valet attendant responded with an attitude and said "those spots are for the people that take care of us. If you want a spot there, you're gonna have to pay more than the $15 valet fee". So I butt in finally and ask what do they feel is "taking care of them". He responds back by saying, "if you give me $20 cash, I won't charge your room and I'll park it in the front". I couldn't believe it, super shady. I looked at my husband and he knew that was a recipe for trouble so we opted out of the valet.
Overall, the stay was very good, I just wouldn't valet there.
