| - Really great tour. We met up with the driver at one of the hotels, he was very personable and had a great sense of humor, which was just what the 45-50 min ride to the valley of fire (atv site) needed.
We were given brief but concise instructions on how to use the atv, you have a choice of riding manual or automatic.
The group, about 12 of us, were split into 2 group: previous experience and no previous experience. I've ridden once before, so I went w/the experienced group...wth was I thinking?! Those trails are legit...hills, bumps, big rocks, all that good stuff. It was lots of fun, but I decided to switch to the novice group at the the third and final stop. I couldn't hang! Plus, I wanted to enjoy the scenery while riding and couldn't do that while going 40mph, praying to make back in one piece, and holding on for dear life! But it was fun!
The guides were great. They were really nice and kept us safe. We ate lunch, which was pretty good, at the last spot.
Tips:
You will get dusty! Wear something that you plan to put straight into the washing machine! I wore a leather motorcycle jacket (it was 35°) and looked like I rolled down a sand dune by the time I was done. And I spent 30 mins when I got back to my hotel just wiping it down.
Use the bathroom
One bathroom break about 5 mins before the tour (at a rest stop) and another at the 3rd and final stop of the tour.
Pace Yourself
Its not a derby and its not the olympics. The point is to have fun, not get carried away and get catapulted from the atv.
Ladies...tuck in that hair! I made the mistake of leaving my hair in a pony tail hanging out of the helmet...dust central. Wear a hat if you can, of course in the summer months, a bun should do the trick.
All in all a really fun way to spend a day while in Vegas!
