  • After checking into our room, we were ready for a cocktail and decided to check this place out. It was pretty early so most of the seating was open. The hostess let us pick our seats so we headed over to the sofa in front of the beautiful fireplace. The decor is very upscale and at the same time, library esque with lots of dark wood and a huge selection of books on the shelves. Our server came by and gave us a few minutes to look at the menu. I decided on Let's Elope, a gin based drink with fresh melon and lime. My husband ordered the Penicillin, a scotch based drink with ginger, lemon, honey. My drink was refreshing and tasty, but I liked the Penicillin more probably because I love fresh ginger. My husband wasn't sold on it. We were having a nice time until two other patrons came in and sat in an area next to us and smoked nonstop. Yes, I know it's Vegas, get used to it, but all that second hand smoke was a making a direct beeline to me. Not only does it irritate me to breathe it in, but I hate when it permeates my hair and I end up smelling like the one with a nasty habit. So we decided to move to some seats across the way near the bookshelves. This was a good move, because now we had access to the books, and they were genuinely interesting books. We started to look through some of them, and then those two smokers moved to the area we just left in front of the fireplace. And of course, their second hand smoke once again headed straight for me. Ugh! I swear I must be a magnet for that crap. So we had to leave. If it were not for the two annoying smokers, we might have ordered more drinks. And that's really the only reason for 3 stars.
