| - SAVE YOUR MONEY! I was greatly disappointed in Craftsteak. The taste was beyond average for the price tag. I had Yelped this place before going and generally, Yelp doesn't let me down. I was celebrating a birthday and I was bummed that I didn't go to the other places I was looking at since I thought this was going to be much better.
Ambiance- Modern, nice lighting. The places opens up and is quite big. See if you can request a booth for more privacy. Tabletop for two people are large. Always nice when you have a bunch of food/dishes/glasses on the table.
Reservations - Always highly recommended in Vegas.
Crowd - All across the board. Either families with older kids or groups.
Price- Ridiculous for the taste. Portion was good though.
Location - MGM right by Shibuya.
Service- Horrible. I like one point man to filter everything through. We had five but no one did the other person's job. We had a manager come greet us, a sommelier for our drink/wine list, a busboy for our water refills and plate changes, a bread guy and the server. In theory, it sounds great to have lots of people serve you, but to us it was just confusing when you needed something. If I need more wine, I need to talk to a different person versus if I need more bread, etc. After our server asked us about our food, he disappeared. When we were done we had to wait 25 minutes to REQUEST the check. In addition, I made reservations over the phone. The person asked if it was for a special occasion to which I said birthday. That wasn't even acknowledged at the front desk nor by our server.
Food- Menu had a good selection but was difficult to understand. I had to ask what the Kobe Beef Three Course Menu was. At the end, we decided to order a la carte.
1. Prosciutto San Daniele - Again, great portion. A dish with about 10 prosciutto slices laid out. However, I was hoping that the prosciutto came with something else. Melons, asparagus, garnishments... anything to break up just eating cured meat alone.
2. Buffalo Mozzarella, Red Pepper Caponata - Mozzarella was very fresh and good texture/taste. The red pepper "salsa" was a bit salty and didn't provide anything additional to the mozzarella. Whole toasted hazelnuts garnished the plate, which, although were tasty, again did nothing for the appetizer.
3. Bread - Great presentation. It came out in its own cask iron plate, piping hot. However, there was a tad too much salt on top. The bread was light and airy. I didn't want to try to bite into a large roll. However, when I tried to just eat the bread cut in half, the salty top was a bit much.
4. New York Strip - No, I didn't order the Kobe nor did I order the filet. I wanted something that had flavor. I was greatly disappointed. The meat was seasoned very well. However, I've had much much more more tender NY strip elsewhere. It was a bit tougher than other high end steak houses that serve NY Strip.
5. Lamb - My boyfriend had the lamb chops which was very good. Four chops were served. Seasoned well, they were tender and had carmelized garlic and rosemary garnishes.
6. Sauteed Spinach- Good portion, enough for 3-4 people. Mild hint of garlic which was a nice touch.
7. Shitake Mushrooms- Delicious and nicely seasoned to compliment the main entree, not overpower it.
8. Ciroc Martini's- Refreshing and comes with its own shaker. One shaker/order provides enough for two martini's.
9. ZD Wine - Decently priced for a bottle.
Again, for the prices, the place just never wowed us. There are so many good restaurants in Vegas that we were disappointed to eat here. The place is piggybacking on its location because it would never survive outside of Vegas.
