My cross country trip this year has turned me into somewhat of a BBQ snob. So while this rating may seem a little harsh, 3 is still average right?
Anyhow Like a true fattie, I ordered a 3 meat plate baby back ribs, brisket and burnt ends. We got unsold on appetizers and opted for 2 orders of $1 onion rings and some fried shrooms.
Appetizers were decent. For $1 you can't complain about anything. The shrooms were a bit greasy for my taste but I got my daily dose of veggies...
Onto the main dishes:
The baby back ribs had a nice bark on them however were a bit on the dry side. Like any rib shack I go to I take a pic of the smoke ring and cross section for reference. Dot believe me take a gander a my pics. I attribute the dryness due to the fact that they were probably smoked early in the afternoon. You could taste the smoke in the meat but because they were dry I needed to sauce them up to help them out. The sweet and hot sauce was ok but not noteworthy enough to buy a bottle and take home.
The burnt ends we're a little on rare side to be called burnt ends. They looked like rib bits versus burnt ends. There wasn't really much or anything burnt about them.
The brisket was the best of the 3 on the platter. It was thin sliced, had a nice smoke ring and was still nice and moist. Not sure what type of sauce was it was served with but it did help keep the brisket from drying out.
All and all, it was ok but it didn't wow me or woo me in any way however, I'd still take Dillon's over Famous Dave's any day.
