I have been waiting for the return of the soda fountain. I sometimes even look to see if a city I'm about to visit has one, just so I can experience it. Therefore, I was pretty excited to hear about this place and couldn't wait to check it out. It did not disappoint.
I'm a fan of root beers and bottled sodas (and have the bottle cap collection to prove it), so I had to try their home made brew. It was pretty good... more anise than most root beers have these days with less of the wintergreen.
My wife and I each got banana splits. They had such a huge opening weekend that they had run out of vanilla ice cream, so I substituted bananas foster for the vanilla (and then opted out of the pineapple topping in favor of toffee). It worked out well for me, because I am not a big fan of vanilla or pineapples so I was happy. I was even happier when I tried the bananas foster ice cream. It was delicious.
The owner was a really nice guy and he felt quite bad that they were running out of things (they soon ran out of chocolate, butter pecan, and brownies with about an hour left 'til closing). We, like many others in line, were not concerned about them running out of stuff. Instead, we were all happy for him that things were going better than he had expected.
