  • I've been taking classes through the real estate school that sits behind this little gem for the past week. Each time I step out for some fresh air, my mouth starts to water--the aromas that drift up from Malee's always make me second guess returning to class. This evening, equipped with a growling stomach and some brutal seasonal allergies, I made it a point to arrive an hour before class and finally give this place a go. I must have appeared lost as I walked up towards the back of the restaurant because one of the employees, Daniel, on his break and in the middle of a conversation, quickly asked if he could help me find something. When I told him I was looking for the entrance, he was kind enough to end his call, introduce himself, and escort me inside to a lady, Angel, who seemed delighted to seat me (customer service at its best!). The décor was classy, modern. And the view I had of the patio as the sun set was spectacular. I ordered a beer, the Tom Ka Gai Soup and the Drunken Dragon Noodles, Thai hot (a level of heat that brought a couple beads of sweat to my brow). All were excellent, but I was in heaven when I tried their Tom Ka Gai soup (as though it weren't already a challenge to return to class). I've frequented Thai restaurants all over Phoenix and I've found that good Thai food is hard to come by; excellent Thai food is downright rare; but excellent Thai food coupled with phenomenal customer service from every server and staff member who walked past my table--well, let's just say I won't let the hour-long commute into Scottsdale deter me from many more future visits to Malee's!
