  • This used to be my go to salon for manis and pedis - until now. The woman, who is assumed is the manger/owner did my manicure. She was a bit curt and rough, but I let it slide. Then she says "Are you Filipino? Because you're so dark." Huh? Really? Yes, I am Filipina, but wasn't expecting racism within my own with my manicure, thank you. She then points to the woman doing my pedicure and says "she's mistaken for Filipino all the time because she's so dark." Ok, lady, I'm sorry you bought into this ideal that whiter skin is preferred, but I'm proud to be brown and Filipina. Kthxbye - Former loyal customer.
