| - As a frequent business and leisure traveler, I see more than the usual share of domestic airports in the US of A. While I have had both flights terminating at CLT as well as connecting through CLT, it's more often the later for me, on numerous USAirways and AA flights.
I think that CLT has a unique "large airport with a down home vibe" going for it. Even when I arrive at E gates and have less than an hour to connect to a flight at A or B gates, I don't shudder with terror as I would if having to cross 3-4 concourses, like I would in an airport such as ATL. With CLT, there is a central "hub" that serves as the connecting point for A-E gates. For me, getting from the very end of E to the very end of B took only 15 minutes, and I even had time to stop at Hissin Sushi in the other "hub" between A and B gates. Great success!
You'll love the plethora of white rocking chairs, clean, bright layout of the walkways, and the plentiful stores and restaurants. Restrooms are easy to find, well-stocked, and constantly kept clean by in-restroom staff that offer you paper towels, mouthwash, and mints, call you honey and darling, and work for tips.
Normally, I dread having to connect through any airport, but with CLT's large-yet-compact layout, good (and healthy and indulgent) food choices, plus Southern charm, I won't be as remiss about my next layover there.
NB: I always use the GateGuru App on my phone as we land and are taxiing into get a good idea of airport floorplan, food choices at arrival/departure gates, etc.
