| - What an awesome, informative, and interactive museum! I took my son on a Wednesday afternoon and he had a blast! We parked in a parking garage beside the museum for $18/day. Neither of us are fans or are very familiar with NASCAR, but the great thing about this place is you don't have to be. At this visit, I purchased one regular adult admission ticket for $25 and a Rookie Racers Kids Club Combo Pack for $29.
The Rookie Racers Kids Club Combo Pack included:
- A year long membership
- NASCAR Hall of Fame admission ticket
- Unlimited simulator rides (day of admission only)
- Drawstring backpack
- Lanyard
- Activity book
- Membership card
- Birthday card from Champ the Cheetah
- Invitations to Rookie Racers events throughout the year
The week we went was spring break and NASCAR HOF had a scavenger hunt for the kids. The scavenger hunt involved looking for facts about the racers, taking selfies at certain points of the museum, participating in activities, etc. Upon completion, you get a free frisbee as well as a prize if you successfully finish. We didn't get through all of it because my son sped through the museum to get to the "race." He was not very interested in exploring the museum. Prior to racing, he had to complete a qualifying round where they educated him on the parts and controls of the vehicles. He spent the majority of our time taking advantage of his unlimited simulator rides. He must have spent a solid hour racing back to back. He got excited everytime his ranking went up.
We did however, get to watch a short informational film in their massive theatre at the very beginnig of the tour as well as try the pit crew station where you mount the car, change tires, and pump gas as quickly as you can. My son and I raced and my time was just under 50 seconds. I learned that day that the pit crews do all of that in 12 seconds! WHAT!
There's a little cafe in the museum that offers sandwiches, drinks, and snacks. The HOF has admission packages you can purchase that include a meal (sandwich, chips, and a drink) from the cafe and one simulator ride starting at $30, so just $5 more than regular admission. In addition, Buffalo Wild Wings is connected to the HOF and can be accessed from inside the museum. We ate at BWW instead of the museum's cafe. Looking back, I should have taken advantage of their combo package. That was a good deal.
We had a fun and memorable experience at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. It's a very well organized museum. It's definitely worth checking out!
