| - I had SO much fun here! Today was our first time at an Alamo Drafthouse. We went to see Solo, not knowing what to expect. We went straight to our seats and skipped the bar, opting to get a drink at our seats to get the full experience. I didn't know what to expect with the "table" situation, and "servers" I kept hearing about. Low and behold, they DO come to your seat, and the table is a legit little table for two between recliner type squishy couch chairs.
I tried the Alamo Amber - from Pedal House and loved it. For $8 you can get an endless bowl of popcorn. There were all kinds of things to order form their menu, pizzas, salads, pretzels.... the bar menu... and MILKSHAKES! The options reminded me of my favorite old drive-in theater. Kids under 6 were not allowed in the theater, nobody is allowed in after the movie starts, the previews are awesome, and people who are noisy or on their phones are kicked out. YES! It was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed the movie and found the server to be friendly, helpful and attentive to our naive-newbie questions. You can order from the server before the movie starts and during the previews. When ordering during the film there is a little light and pieces of paper where you write down what you want on a piece of paper for your server and they bring it out to you. No words exchanged. The final bill comes shortly before the end of the movie. I'm already excited to watch all kinds of movies here!
Note: the chairs did not recline in my row, but rather rocked a bit and could lean back far enough to hit a rail. They were rather ... upright, but very squishy. I didn't have any issues with them but it seemed like they SHOULD have been able to recline and somehow just didn't. Nothing that would deter me from coming back, I'm the type that would opt for an older classic theater with the old-fashioned wooden chairs just for the experience ;)
