  • I came here about 3 weeks ago with the intention of starting a new year with a new look :) Decided that I wanted to dye my jet-black hair into something lighter (but not too drastic) I searched for salons nearby, and decided on Salon de Elephant after seeing great reviews on Yelp. I got Nicki as my stylist and her lovely assistant, Lilian. They were absolutely great and really made me feel really comfortable while I was there. Nicki really took her time trying to understand what I wanted. I explained to her that I wanted something that I could easily maintain without too much effort (I'm lazy). And also that I wanted to give my hair a bit more colour with highlights but had some reservations for anything too crazy. She gave me her recommendations for colours, either going with a brown with a reddish base or with a purplish base. I decided to go for a reddish brown hue. Next was choosing the technique for the highlights. Between full-head or balayage highlights, I choose the latter because it allowed me to wait a bit longer before having to touch-up and it has less obvious grow-out at the roots. The whole session took about 3 hours, all the while Nicki made sure I was alright or if I needed more magazines/water. At one point, the salon got super busy, and every stylist were taking clients one after another, but Nicki never rushed my session, she took her time and made sure everything went smoothly. The end result was better than I expected, the colour came out just right! This was the first time I was actually really excited about my hair! I really appreciated Nicki for taking her time with me, she even taught me some tips on how to keep my hair healthy and how to maintain the colour. After 3 weeks, I have to say that the balayage technique is so natural looking that I'm excited to try going lighter next time :p I paid $140 and also left a hefty tip. But this was after a 20% discount because I had a referral from a fellow Yelper. Btw, If anyone wants to use my name as a referral to get 20% discount, pm me and I'll give you my name :) So, If you want great customer service and great stylists for a reasonable price, this is the place to go! Highly recommended!
