My hubby and I came here for date night about a month or so ago. We were looking for a dive bar that wasn't crowded and a place we could play pool. The place is super small with only one pool table. The second we walked in we were greeted by the famous Maggie. You could tell there was a regular crowd there. Usually places like this with a crowd of regulars tend not to be the friendliest to new faces. That couldn't have been further from our experience! Maggie was warm, upbeat, friendly and asked our names before even asking for our drink order! This is a place where you feel like you're in Cheers the first time you walk in. The beers were ice cold and Maggie was ready with another the second we wanted one. The only down side was that no one was playing pool until we started playing. Before we started our first game a guy came up and put his quarters up. Which was annoying because we came to play pool together. What's worse is when it was his turn to play my husband, he wasn't even paying attention to the game. He had to get him every time it was his turn. Then his wife put up quarters and he one so they played while we sat there waiting. But now neither of them were paying attention and it wasn't our game so we didn't want to be rude and say "hey, we'd like to play, can you at least pay attention." The other thing was that they didn't have food. Only small bags of chips and stuff that they charged for. So with no food, and these two playing the longest pool game ever, we got bored and left. It was a bummer because we instantly liked the place and Maggie was amazing. But there just isn't enough there to entertain you if other people take over the pool table. Honestly because of how amazing Maggie was and how welcomed we felt, we will more than likely go back... after we've had dinner somewhere else. Keep up the good work Maggie and my only suggestion is maybe the staff can help with the flow of the pool table.
