  • I completely agree with Donnique D. about the surly staff. I am bipolar and I was rather suddenly experiencing what some of us bipolars refer to as "Black Mania"--when you experience ALL SYMPTOMS OF THE DISORDER at once. It is a terrifying state of mind and many bipolars have suicidal ideations during it--Black Mania feels like a permanent condition when you are experiencing it, and there are no easy remedies for it. Sometimes NO treatments work. Usually one is NOT THINKING CLEARLY AT ALL when experiencing Black Mania--that is something that any competent psychiatrist and his staff should understand. Bipolar 101. I was in the throes of Black Mania when I called this doctor's office for help. I was terrified that I would remain in that state of mind, and I could not stop convulsing in tears and choking on my words when I called this place. I would describe the attitude of whichever woman I spoke to as condescending and completely unsympathetic--my tearful convulsions did not impress her enough for her to be at least as courteous and understanding as a customer service rep at, let's say, Amazon--a place that does NOT require of its employees a particular temperament and a background in psychiatry or general medicine. This woman at Rosenman's office did give me a choice for an appointment for the same day or for the following day--but she spoke to me like I was a stupid teenager who needed to grow up and accept my condition. I am 67 years old, in fact, and have experienced psychosis since I was 15. There are good psychiatrists and bad psychiatrists, my friends; and there are good staff and bad staff. A rep at Amazon would have at least tried to comfort me over the phone--even if I was tearfully returning an electronic device, and she would have had some compassion and sensitivity in her voice--like ALL the reps at Amazon would--and they're not even in the medical field, let alone in the psychiatric profession where sensitivity is key. I felt helpless and angry at the same time and I ultimately did not see anyone at Rosenman's office--I felt it would exacerbate my condition to sit in that unfriendly environment. I do not recommend this place to anyone with a very serious psychiatric condition. I don't know what constitutes a psychiatric condition that is NOT serious, but if you are only "mildly sick", maybe this is your go-to place. It sure ain't mine.
