I order pretty simple maki rolls, but Takumi is one of my favorites in Madison, and definitely the BEST east of the Square. A lot of places seem to make rolls with a bunch of rice and a tiny piece of meat in the middle. Takumi gives you a nice hunk of meat with a bit of rice around it - definitely an awesome value and the reason I keep coming back. Always tastes really fresh. I've never actually dined in, always do "to go," but staff is always incredibly kind. They have a steep minimum for cards ($15 I think?), but it's not super hard to meet if you're eating sushi. I did try the spicy scallop once and was very underwhelmed, it seemed to be ground up meat mixed with the spicy mayo stuff. I'll stick to my tuna and salmon rolls, and will be completely content with it. For to go orders, I also appreciate that they give you soy sauce in a container that allows you to dip sushi into - no annoying paper packets that you have to try and drizzle over the rolls. Might seem small, but it makes a difference.
