| - My experience at the Bertram Inn wasn't awful, but it wasn't great either. Upon check-in I was in a guest room that doubles as a conference room. The room was big (actually huge), with a bed that pulled down from the wall. It was a foot off the ground. There wasn't bedroom-like decor or furnishings in the room - not even a clock. I asked to be reassigned, which was granted. The next room was normal, although the air conditioner or something made a clicking sound all night. It was intermittent so I felt it not useful to complain - plus I'd already changed rooms once. The next morning I reserved a shuttle to the airport for the following morning and was told to be downstairs in the lobby at 6 a.m. (The shuttle to the airport is $70.) I was waiting, patiently early the next morning for the driver. When I asked the person at the front desk if the shuttle was ready, she indifferently told me she noticed earlier there was a shuttle reservation in the book - "That must be you" - but she didn't know who was lined up to drive - and hadn't bothered to find out. Her attitude was one of indifference, and it wasn't her problem. Yep. A driver who was picking someone up at the airport did arrive about 20 minutes later but the entire episode lacked concern, empathy and good customer service. This was the response I received all four times I stopped by the front desk - lackluster service with no one really taking responsibility for knowing what was going on. The property is nice, although the hotel is outdated, the area is pretty and the food at the restaurant was good. Oh, there is also a Coach Factory Outlet store nearby. That was the best part of my stay at the Bertram Inn.
