They make simple mistakes here that prove their policies are neither consistent nor fair, AND that they do not adequately train their staff. When a bank makes such simple mistakes as they did, the only thing I can think of is that they are likely to make other mistakes that could be more severe and very inconvenient.
The bank staff did nothing to attempt to resolve their mistake at the time of service when they had the chance. I know a lot of banks do crappy things, but it's always funny how they are not accountable for their mistakes, but expect their customers to be for accountable for theirs.
