I love combination book and music stores (and no, I don't mean like Indigo, who happens to have both, though I love them too)- particularly used ones. This one is tucked away on the edge of Greektown, with one of those really cool swinging signs hanging out front, a piece of red tin that made me feel like I was in the old west. What?
The smell of patchouli incense was strong, which made my sense of nostalgia even stronger (than the cowboy days) and the few small boxes of records as well as the books displayed cover-side out managed to get my attention and wrangle an almost-immediate purchase. I was impressed to see Patti Smith's "Easter" just sitting there, facing the customers, pretty much waiting for me to buy it (which I did), and a Leonard Cohen book I had never seen before (his first...which I also bought) was surprising, considering I work at a bookstore and feel as though I have seen it all. They get extra points for making me remember that I haven't.
