  • Legend, legend, legend, legendary. My personal history has been intertwined with House of Tricks since I was roughly 16. It was at this age I realized how to be a man and by man I mean how to treat a woman. And quite frankly, Tricks has played something of an advisory role for many major manformative years thereafter. Obvious hyperbole alert: This place is so romantic that even if a clown juggling three chihuahuas rode through the patio in on a unicycle every 20 minutes you'd still get laid. There is in no fathomable way I could dissect dishes or service or ambiance as I have been there literally over a hundred times. Therefore, you'll just have to look elsewhere for a play-by-play of the dishes (as they also seasonally change menu items it renders this task improbable if not impossible). What I can say about some food related items is this: First, the lavender crusted tuna from 2002 haunts me like a lost love to this day; and second, the grilled lemon caper salmon salad quite possibly changed my life. Capers...who knew right? What Tricks has to offer the patron is the quintessential personal dining experience. The service is good but laid back...they will leave your party be for the most part. This is not supposed to be a 5 star restaurant so it doesn't try to be. What they do is provide a platform for their guests to enjoy their friends, family, lovers or liaisons to the fullest. At the same time they are treated with impeccable food, great presentation, and a wonderful setting all very effortlessly. Go here on a date.
