First, the level of communication from the employees has never been what I'd expect. At most other car washes I've visited, there's always someone who greets you right away. At this location, you're often left with just the touch screen (with which I've had problems in the past). If someone runs over, it's really just to upsell you on an additional service. The first time I purchased a full-service wash, it wasn't clear where I was supposed to go after exiting the car wash tunnel. A guy had to run over and move a cone out of the way, then motioned for me to drive down a particular lane. Nobody greeted me after that, so I awkwardly walked around the building and found the waiting room.
Second, I hate places that always try to upsell. I'll admit I fell for a promotion to join the monthly plan for $6. I was told you could "cancel anytime" and I knew I'd need another car wash soon as I had a weekend road trip planned. Then the guy directed me to a different lane because as a new member, I was going to get "special" service. When I asked what he meant, he said I was getting a polish for "only $50". I said no thanks, and he said if I wanted the basic full service, I'd have to reverse out and drive back into the normal lane (which was already backed up with cars). What an inconvenient and dishonest practice.
As far as "cancel anytime" - read the fine print, if you don't cancel 7 days before the end of the month, you get charged again.
