This is the Las Vegas Strip on a much smaller scale but it's a really great place to have a block party and First Fridays. The street is covered in a canopy where you can enjoy an animated light and music show. They change the show every so often. For example, they had a cute Frankenstein theme in October for Halloween and some rock-n-roll type theme in August. The entire canopy lights up at night and the music is pretty loud.
The street fronts a lot of the downtown hotels like The Golden Nugget, Main Street, Fremont, etc. There are a ton of kiosks on the street that sell goodies like neckalaces/beads, NFL items, and of course Las Vegas souvenirs. The street usually has a lot of street performers or people in costume. Some nights, they also have live performance on one or both of the stages on the street. It's pretty mellow during the day and gets more lively at night. If you are looking for a crazy good time, come here for First Fridays (see my separate review).
The Fremont Street Experience is one of my regular stops when I come to Las Vegas. I come here for a night of cheap drinks, people-watching and good old street performances.
