| - I was a loyal customer of this mechanic shop for more than 11years, until today. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars there over the years on my aging Jeep. I even opened a line of credit with the credit service provider with them, which had a $2000 credit limit; within the first 6 months of having it, I maxed it out. I have never complained about the service there and as a woman, I actually at one time felt that I could trust them and was happy to come up with the money they charged, even as they never offered a discount to me or offered a single break when the costs were too high. I even overlooked a charge made to my credit card for a service that I did not authorize. I trusted them.
Today, I went in because even though the battery that was installed a couple of years ago was weak, when it started really acting up this summer, I literally made the decision to not go back there for a couple of months, because I spend so much time there! I took my car in to have the battery checked and as I thought, it was weak. Come to find out, the warranty was only for two years, and ironically, my two years was up in August. I asked for a break for the very first time, as I recalled that I actually spend so much time there that I decided to wait a while, otherwise, I would've been there months ago and Kevin said the only thing he could offer was a $5 discount because I had triple A. I felt insulted. I asked him to get the owner, Michael on the phone and let him know that as a loyal customer, I felt that they could do better for me; he refused.
As I thought back on the matter of how I had given them so much money over the years, I recalled how the services I frequently paid for, were the same ones, over and over again, that ironically ran out shortly after the warranty expired! Still thinking on my feet, I decided that this is it, I am not giving these folks another dine of my money! I expressed to Kevin how disappointed I was and asked if he had contacted Michael because surely he would not want to lose me as a customer; again, he refused. I said fine, I don't want you to replace the battery and he responded ok, " i will put the battery back in your car." They took the battery out, without even getting my approval to fix the car! I informed kKevin that will never step a foot in this shop again and reminded him of how loyal a customer I was. I couldn't believe that the price they offered didn't reflect anything of my loyalty or the fact that the warranty just recently expired. Even though the battery had already been taken out of my car and it made sense to just let them replace it, I decided that affirmatively, I would not give them another dime! I took my car to Sears and they placed a brand new battery in my car (allied offered a price for a battery at a "prorated" price) for the approximate same amount of money!). Sears charges me about $15 more, and gave me a 36 month warranty (allied offered only 24 months and it lasted just past that long) and they even gave me a $10 discount when Allied insulted me with a $5 discount!
At the end of the day, it appears that Allied's warranties are useless and the parts they install quit working just beyond the expiration date; and even though you're a loyal customer, they don't factor that in. I will never go back here and I feel violated as a consumer. I feel that Allied betrayed my trust and now I feel as is I was being taken advantage of, all along. I started to wonder why I kept getting the same services over and over. The parts are apparently inferior and they only last until just after the warranty expires.
