I purchased a Groupon for a couples massage. Once we arrived we were immediately asked to fill out a form about our area of massage preferences etc. At that time I noticed at the bottom of the sheet they had "preset tip amounts". I found that odd, but we proceeded with the massage anyway. Once we entered the room we were asked to undress in preparation. My husband and I requested woman masseuses as I'm sensitive to really aggressive hands. My massage wasn't horrible but felt rushed and awkward. At one point they massaged our legs with rocks. The rocks felt really good but the masseuse rubbed my legs extremely fast in a jerking motion. She kept hitting my ankle bone with the rocks. The whole time I'm thinking I'm supposed to be relaxing not tensing up due to her grabbing and jerking me. At one point she lifted and dropped my legs? I don't know if she thought that would loosen me up? Please tell me what part of that would be relaxing? As she continued on to my back it was the same thing. As she rubbed my back her stomach was hitting my head, repeatedly! This was the worst massage I've ever had unfortunately. The only reason this place gets 2 stars is my husbands massage was ok. Each time I looked up from an awkward moment I saw that he looked fine. Both masseuse's completely ignored massaging our thighs. On the entry sheet you identify any areas you want more or less attention to. My husband specified some problem areas which was completely ignored. On my sheet I wrote all areas as I had no target areas. As we got dressed and headed for the lobby; my husbands masseuse was there. Once again here they were shoving those intro papers into our face. Now I knew what the preset tips were about. They have you "rate" your experience. I didn't want to be rude and planned to tip regardless. But I didn't appreciate how they had a blacked out area on the form that used to say $10 for a "good" massage. Now it started at $15 and up for a "great" experience and so on. Obviously I wouldn't rate my experience great by any means. I didn't like the pressure of them trying to MAKE us tip $30 for a couple regardless of how much we enjoyed the service! To me this tactic is very tacky! If you do a good job you don't have to demand a tip, it's earned! My husband tipped them $25 and we left! Unfortunately our search continues for a really good spa...
