Watch out for severe price gouging when large events are going on in Toronto. Prices for a mediocre room increased about threefold from the stated average room rate seen on the online services while a large event was taking place in Toronto.
We had to wait from our arrival at 10 PM until midnight just to get into our room. After complaining, we were offered a free supper----ridiculous at 11PM when all we wanted was a shower and sleep. The reason for the delay was never clearly explained but overheard conversation amongst staff hinted that the hotel was experiencing a labor action. From the amount of cash generated from their unseemly price gouging, the hotel could easily have settled their labor issues. Our room was clean but small and poorly appointed by today's standards. We found no microwave, no refrigerator, no iron or ironing board, small plastic cups, three sheets of paper on a note pad and a cardboard pencil. There were silly charges for local telephone calls and a very slow check-in because of seemingly untrained and/or insufficient staff. While every one of the staff was uniformly polite, they were unable to perform efficiently.
The air conditioning was adequate and fairly quiet. Blackout curtains were effective and lighting was adequate for reading and work. The WiFi was free, easy to use and fast enough for email and web browsing but we did not use any streaming services. Ambient noise from outside leaked into the room enough to disturb our sleep. Bathroom fixtures were not high end but clean and serviceable. The carpets and surfaces were clean. The room had no offensive odor. TV channel selection was quite limited.
We decided to not patronize this hotel again because what we were charged was not commensurate with what we received.
