| - I've been wanting to go here for a while, so we came here for our tenth anniversary weekend, and we knew our son would enjoy seeing all of the animals. He didn't want to leave! Yesterday was our original plan except it rained, so we opted for today since the weather seemed better. It was perfect although it did get warmer once it was past noon.
A great place for the family to spend a few hours (don't rush it) but here are a few tips (1) get here early (2) bring cash for the entry fee---very reasonable! (3) wear comfortable shoes & clothing, layers during questionable weather (if it rained recently, areas are muddy, plus there's poop too) (4) follow the rules (there are signs posted) and (5) wash your hands often if you touch the animals; don't touch the birds or the ones that bite (there is a bathroom and hand sanitizer dispenser).
We went around twice (8 acres---there is a lot to see), so my husband could get pics and video. Most of the animals are in the aviary, cages, pens or the pond. The goats got loose and it was a bit scary, once the herd was in motion, but they mostly stood up to get some fruit off of the trees or jumped on the benches. Oh and poop, little pellets, watch out for that. There are some loose birds (chickens, ducks) but they don't bother you.
A handful of employees were making their rounds which was neat to see during feeding time. The cashier up front was very helpful and gave us the skinny on the animals and areas. There is a food donation list and donation box for cash, also located in the front. The parking lot is about 25 or so spots.
There are lots of seating under the shade in many areas. There is a lot of picnic tables around the midsection of the property. Also, there is an amphitheater with a small stage. We also noticed the corn and bamboo as well as many other types of trees.
It's a nice family attraction that won't break the bank, which offers views of so many different animals: koi, birds, goats, turkeys, chickens, roosters, pigeons, peacocks, pigs, miniature horses, ostrich, emu, donkeys, llamas, etc. The property is maintained well but watch your step, for the poop.
